Last weekend, I was able to go visit my husband and see him for 3 1/2 loooong days! Except they went by super fast. {FYI-He’s doing some training in Missouri and is done 1/3 of it so far. He comes home in May.}
So, I flew into St. Louis last Thursday night, Gord drove up Friday morning and we ate our way through the city as best as we could. There were lots and lots of restaurants we wanted to go to, but many of them were completely sold out because of the Valentine’s Day weekend which is fine. Maybe we’ll just have to go back to visit the rest ๐
Here are lots of the pictures I took from the trip. Enjoy! All restaurant recommendations + my google map of St. Louis are at the bottom of this post <3

We stayed at the Omni Majestic Hotel. The accommodations were fine and a little dated, but the service we got was awesome. I’d recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

Fitz’s is a St. Louis company that bottles its own soda…too bad my new years resolution is to NOT DRINK SODA. I was requesting all sorts of juices on my flights…lol!

Friday brunch was at Rooster…only a few blocks from the hotel.

My husband’s plate. I forget what this was called, but it’s a homemade biscuit topped with fried eggs, sausages, potatoes and gravy. It was SO GOOD. I didn’t think I was going to like it as much as I did. The potatoes and gravy made it what it is, in my opinion.

I had the banana nut french toast. Swoon!! I could only eat 2 half slices before I was full! My husband finished a lot of the rest.

And then because I’m a rule breaker, we got dessert…..at 11 am….because they were offering us S’more Crepes. Hello.
Talk about sugar overload!! But it was all worth it.

The Gateway arch!! We walked from the restaurant to here and then took the cars up to the top.

At the top, we were able to see so much, like my cute husband. Oh YEAH! Love that guy.

Views from the top!

Mission Tacos Friday night had these crazy good chicken floutas. But then again, anything fried is right up my alley.

Who loves a good fish taco? Well, I found the best fish taco in all the land! I can’t handle how delicious this taco is..

Second favorite? These Chicken Mango tacos….git in mah belleh.

Dessert was churros. #gooddecision

The next morning, we went around the corner from the hotel to a place called Park Avenue Coffee for their gooey butter cakes which were featured several times on the Food Network.

Cinnamon roll!!

Coconut Lime GBC!
DELISH. Those two were my favorites from the sampling we got.

Lunch was at Pappy’s Smokehouse!! We got their 7 minutes after they opened their doors and we still waited in line for a good 20 minutes.

Vinegar based coleslaw like this is the perfect side to cut the butteriness of the ribs or pulled pork!

Hello gorgeous! Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had.

For Valentine’s Day, we found Jilly’s! A cute little cupcake shop that won cupcake wars on Food Network ย ๐ Happy to taste test these on your behalf!

Chocolate covered strawberry cupcakes? Oh yes they did.

This cupcake was filled with oozey caramel and cheesecake, incase you were wondering. My very favorite cupcake I tried! The cake recipes used are PRIME. No kidding they won cupcake wars.
Did I mention Jilly’s fills all their cupcakes too? Well they do. Best decision ever!

Chocolate and peanut butter heaven!

After cupcakes, Gord gave me my Valentine’s Day present: a diamond eternity wedding band. I’ve been on the hunt for one like this for a while because I LOVE LOVE LOVE how hey look. So I mentioned it to him and voila! New ring!! I’m a little in love with it.

Valentine’s Day night…..Chinese takeout for us ๐ The chicken and chive dumplings we ordered were yum.

Pi Pizzeria on Sunday made me want to eat pizza forever more.

And the white balsamic vinaigrette on this salad is what dreams are made of.

#classic #hadto #wheninrome #imeanstlouis Ted Drewes cookie dough concrete is amazing. Have you heard of Ted Drewe’s? Well I hadn’t but then a bunch of you all told me I HAD to go, so we went and had a teeny tiny spiritual experience–> that’s how good it tasted.

Monday morning, right before I left for home, I got an amazing burger from Bailey’s Range. OMG, so so good. It’s been a while since I’ve had a real hamburger and this one hit the spot!! The white cheddar did me in. So delicious.
Anyways, even though it was a million times harder to say goodbye to my husband for a second time, it was worth the visit. I love you Gord! Thanks for being awesome and reminding me that I like being married to a real life person and not a floating head on FaceTime. ๐

February 20, 2015 at 7:30 amWhat a great trip! We have lived in St Louis for a couple of years now, and still explored all these wonderful places. We LOVE Fitz soda!!! We don’t drink very much soda—it’s a big treat—but Fitz’ is made with Real Cane Sugar, not HFCS! That means that, as a treat or dessert, Fitz is really nice even for whole food lovers.

February 23, 2015 at 9:49 pmI SO wish my new years resolution wasn’t to not drink soda…it was so tempting to go to Fitz’s!

September 2, 2015 at 9:48 amYour photos and comments are extraordinary. We’ll be with a tour group at the Omni and will have time to sneak off to Ted Drewes. Did you go to Ted’s by taxi? If so was getting a taxi for the trip back easy? Also, liked your idea about Chinese take out. While we’ve been to St. Louis several times and my husband lived there, we found your comments full of great ideas.
Thanks,
Gale

September 4, 2015 at 6:58 amMy husband had his car with him that we kept at the Valet at the Omni. We took that over to Ted Drewes. Be sure to call first because not all locations were open! We ended up driving a few extra miles that we didn’t mean to!
