Family This Week at the Brennan's

This Week at the Brennans’

April 30, 2024

Well, I’ve never had stitched and I’ve never had a kid need stitches…that is until April 6th. Porter was playing with Crouton and since Porter is much closer to Crouton’s size than the rest of us, she loves playing with Porter. Anyways, they were running up and down our hallway, around the dining room, back to the living room, here there everywhere. Porter ran into our living room and sat on the ottoman, which we had against the window. It’s a pretty large ottoman and Porter lies down on it pretty frequently. Anyways, the dog jumped up to him to keep playing, he fell backwards and hit the back of his head on the window sill. I was just in the kitchen and while I didn’t see what happened, I heard what happened. So he came running over immediately screaming. I consoled him and went to touch the back of his head to find where this bump would be. It felt a little different and when I pulled my hand away, it was covered in blood. I called out to Gordon, unsure of what to do. We got a bunch of paper towels and added pressure to try to stop the bleeding. I called urgent care, wondering if we should go there or to the ER. They ‘triaged’ him over the phone with us and said they could do stitches at their office. So, we left expecting stitches. Well, turns out they could get away with some numbing cream and glue- no needles or stitches required. If this was on his face, then they would have done stitches, but since its at the back of his head that is covered with hair, it wasn’t that big of a deal to have a little scar their when things were all healed. So, that was a fun adventure…not.

Other random things: Blake and Eddie are trying out for intermediate soccer teams. I don’t want to commit to club soccer just yet. This is a nice stepping stone. Eddie is losing teeth! I feel like they are falling out all at once!

We celebrated Easter in March, but I’m posting our Easter photo here for April.

We’ve had some nice weather leading into May and the boys are taking full advantage! We are getting ready to get grass, concrete and sprinklers in the yard, finally! No more dirt piles. And, I was able to volunteer on a field trip with Eddie’s school class. It was freezing, but we found out that Eddie really likes to use a bow and arrow, and is surprisingly quite good at it.
