Cruising Through the Caribbean!

March 21, 2024

This March, Gordon and I were so relieved and excited to go on a cruise with our dear friends from Oregon down to the Eastern Caribbean!! The cruise ship was dated, the food was mid but the company was AMAZING!! Claudia, Nate, Gordon and I all traveled from Salt Lake and Kristin, Nick, AJ and Jim came from Portland. We had one night in Orlando before we headed out on the boat the next morning to Grand Turk and Dominican Republic. Truly, this was just what the doctor ordered! Gordon and I rarely get the chance to get out just the two of us, especially if its a trip longer than one evening away. But, we were magically able to find a babysitter and make the trip! It was so so fun! I’m dying to go back on vacation with all my friends!! They are as wonderful as they come and are so delightful to be around 🙂

First day on the ship, waiting for it to sail away!
It didn’t take long for the competitions to start with the guys! It was hilarious to watch them play everything from pool to bingo to shuffleboard. They were hilarious together.
Heavenly sunsets from the deck.
Our group won a trivia contest and got a trophy! I don’t actually know who ended up with said trophy. All I know is we didn’t take it home.

Dominican Republic

We chose an excursion in the DR called Zip and Dip. Basically, you hike through the forest to the top of some mountain, then you take a series of ziplines down the mountain. After all of that, then you get to swim and slide down many natural waterfalls. I am the adventurous type, so this was right up my alley. It was SO FUN! I’m pretty sure everyone had fun on this excursion! It was about 4 hours, but it flew right by! Gordon and I ended up buying the professional photos and videos (a few seen below!) and we all split the cost. It was only $10 each couple since we talked them down to $40 for everything.

I love these weirdos.

Grand Turk

Our second stop of the trip was to Grand Turk, the largest island in Turks and Caicos. It was lovely!! We did a snorkel tour which I took zero photos of. Then we hung out on the beach, shopped and ate all the things. The sands were white, the water was warm and it was a lazy afternoon, which I loved. Gordon did more snorkeling with Nick to find a literal baby shark they had heard were in the waters, but didn’t end up finding it. I for sure thought we were going to get burned really badly, but turns out if you’re diligent with your sunscreen, your skin is aok.

You’ve probably seen those reels or videos online where wives buy their husbands one particular shirt and then they all show up wearing the same thing. Well leave it to us to pull one over on our husbands! I can’t believe they all fell for it! The only one who was actually mad was Nate which is hilarious because he is typically the most chill person ever. And then after dinner in their matching shirts, the guys tried to touch their toes. I don’t remember whose idea this was, but it was hilarious to watch!

We won another trophy! And I do think Gordon should get a hat like this.

And 6 days later, we were on our way back to our babies. It was truly one of the best trips. Only happy memories. And I do want to go back on vacation somewhere…anywhere.
