We are either really smart or really dumb, but we got a puppy and named her Crouton.

“Lauren, why would you get a puppy when you technically don’t even have a house?” That’s a great question and I’m not sure there’s a good answer. But, here’s the story.

Gordon promised our kids a dog once we were settled in our new house. We weren’t sure what kind of dog, but knew it had to be a smaller dog that was hypoallergenic with a good demeanor and good with kids and families. Since we are temporarily living in Hood River with Gordon’s parents, we get the opportunity to see lots of family. There are aunts and uncles galore here. One uncle and niece in particular (ahem…uncle Mark and Ambria) were over one evening with both their dogs, two little yorkies. We had been with their dogs before and they are friendly, quiet and just as sweet as can be. One is very hyper and one is very calm. Ambria knew we were thinking about getting a dog one day and started texting with the dog breeders they got their dogs from. She texted me with information about several puppies and this one in particular stuck out to me because she was older, had started potty and crate training and seemed to be the perfect mix of calm and hyper. Long story short, we thought getting her now and potty training her now would be way better/easier than getting a different dog in Utah and her destroying our brand new house with the potty training. So we got her now and have been loving on her ever since. She is a little spicy sometimes, especially when Porter can be just as spicy back, but for the most part, she is the sweetest little thing! She is about 4 pounds right now and we expect her to be about 6 pounds when she is full grown.
