Happy to be sharing a few photos from our vacation to Lake George in upstate New York!
I spent the previous week, just me and the kids in Canada visiting my parents and then after the week was through, my parents drove us back to the states where Gordon met us and we headed over to The Sagamore Resort on Bolton Landing. We had such a relaxing vacation. It was so nice, especially for Gordon and the kiddos, to get out of the city, slow down a little (a lot!) and remember what it’s like to be together all together as a family for more than a few hours at a time.
We hit up the outdoor pools, the breakfast buffet (which had the most amazing breakfast sausages I’ve ever eaten) the kids’ club and the nature trails every day and even got to ride a steam boat and explore different parts of the lake. It is just what the doctor ordered and we were sad to leave, but September is now here and school is only a few days away.
So, here are a few photos from our vacation. I didn’t take as many as I would have liked, but I was too busy relaxing (aaaand I hurt my back. It’s much better than it was last week, but still am taking ibuprofen here and there to help.)

The biggest goofball there ever was.

Did I mention the buffet breakfasts were amazing? Because they were. Omelets made to order with those sausages. Swoon! I ate eggs and sausage every morning because they were so darn good.

I love this picture so much!

Mr. baby blue eyes!

I did not bring my hair straightener for this trip and I was basically a hot mess the entire time. Exhibit A. Wheeee!

There are many privately owned islands in Lake George and Gordon started snapping away. He LOVES the idea of having a remote island you can only reach via boat. So, this miiiight be in our future. My vote is to rent a boat and then camp on one of the islands because it’s like $20 a night. Haha!

Friday afternoon, we drove back to the city and back to reality. Sad to say goodbye to our rental car too. Maybe we’ll get a car of our own again. Mayyybe.

September 4, 2018 at 6:26 pm[…] I posted all about our time at Lake George yesterday. It was such a fun trip that was quiet, low key and (mostly) relaxing. Not quite a vacation because KIDS, but a generally low-stress family trip. We really liked staying on Lake George and dreaming of buying one of the houses on one of the itty bitty islands. *Sigh* It’s fun to dream. I do that a lot. Haha! You can read more about our trip here. […]

September 15, 2018 at 6:55 pmOh my goodness, that last shot of you driving reminds me so much of the stretch of freeway headed toward Tualitin in Portland! I thought I was about to read how you were visiting the PNW. Ha.

September 15, 2018 at 9:20 pmI was so happy to see you make it up to Lake George! I am a NYC transplant and currently live in Saratoga (about 30 mins south of LG). The Sagamore is one of my favorite spots to visit when we head up there. As soon as you announced that you were moving to NYC, I wanted to suggest it to you since it’s such a family friendly area and a nice breather from the concrete jungle (so much so that I ended up staying here! Lol!)! Your pictures are beautiful and it looks like you enjoyed your time. Hopefully you’ll be back sometime!

September 16, 2018 at 12:02 amLove this post because the resort looks amazing! Kind of half expect them to have dance lessons a la Patrick Swayze?
As a fellow LDS who struggles with it a little, your posts give me comfort, thank you 😍😍

September 16, 2018 at 5:08 amI’m from a small town 20mins south of Lake George. Love having the Adirondacks in my back yard. Dont forget to come back in the winter. Theres a winter carnival on the lake, and you can check out the ice bar the Sagamore has at that time too. Beautiful ice sculptures on the property.

September 16, 2018 at 6:51 amI love to see where you go to retreat from the city with your sweet family. My young grandsons live in the city, with their mom and dad, of course. I visit them and realize how busy life is for them so I’m always looking for possible places to escape the hectic city life. They are still very young, but someday, someday.
