Good news, ya’ll! The Lauren’s Latest family is growing! I’m happy to announce that we’ll be expecting a baby come April 2013.
This is VERY happy news for our little family. Gord and I have gone through ups and downs that come along with infertility. Yes, I said infertility. It’s something that many women have to face and it’s heart aching and frustrating. Without getting into too many details, my body doesn’t make it easy for me to get pregnant. But, after almost 2 years of trying and going through 3 different doctors, we feel truly blessed and very lucky that I’m pregnant with a seemingly healthy little baby. It was our {lucky} 7th round of clomid that did the trick. Once we found out that the 7th round actually took, we kept this to ourselves, not even telling close family and friends until we had a 2nd ultrasound to confirm that everything was fine, which it was! π So, now we are spreading the news and are shouting it from the rooftops!
So right now, I’m 15 weeks and 1 day along….not that I’m counting or anything. Ha! This photo of my little belly was taken this morning. I was really sick to my stomach between weeks 6 and 9, but started to come around week 10. It’s really hard to hide nausea and put on a happy face when you’re out with friends. Just sayin’. I still get exhausted if I overdo it or if I don’t get enough rest. I get lightheaded as well if I stand for too long or if I’m thirsty. I crave salty things…but mostly just fries. Haha! And sugar makes me feel sick to my stomach so I try to avoid sweets. Β I’m mostly still in my regular clothes, although wear my pants unzipped with a belly band to avoid awkward situations.
Anyways, that’s all I can think of for now…
BUT, here’s a question for you: What are your recommendations for comfortable, yet cute maternity clothing? What stores are good for this? All the stuff I’ve found looks like old lady moo-moo gear. Eek!
Ooh, AND: What are your predictions on gender? Boy or girl? Either way we are thrilled. High fives all around!

Plus, your blog is one where I genuinely enjoy reading your posts for more than just the recipies. They’re witty and charming and overall fun to read- when I was bored and couldn’t sleep last night I just read your posts for a while!
I can’t wait to hear how your daughter reacts and how she feels about being a big sister. And see what recipies you come up with thanks to pregnancy cravings haha!
Congratulations π

November 8, 2012 at 8:57 amMany congrats to you and your husband! I’ve been following you for quite awhile and this is just wonderful news! Best wishes to you guys! (Oh, and if it weren’t for Old Navy, I would have been one naked Mama-To-Be. They had the cutest most affordable clothes I could find. Didn’t want to pay a fortune for clothes that I could only wear for a few months…good luck!)

November 8, 2012 at 12:07 pmCongratulations!
My little girl is 1 now, but I got all my maternity clothes on Ebay. I lived in my Paige maternity, and Seven For all Mankind jeans, and they didn’t break the bank! For my tops I just bought bigger sizes and stretched them over my tummy, I’m really short so all the maternity stuff was like wearing a paper bag π

November 9, 2012 at 3:45 pmHUGE congratulations!! I had a feeling, and am so happy for you after what’s obviously been a difficult road. Hope everything continues to go well – we just had our 3rd and my daughter was definitely a little disappointed to find out it was another brother…good thing though, as she was lobbying for the name “Magenta” π

November 21, 2012 at 10:09 amCongratulations! My son is 4 months old and it took us years to conceive. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant… surreal. Best wishes! It goes so quickly!
I bought most of my maternity gear at JCP and Target (online mostly). I know that people turn their noses up at JCP, but I stuck to solid-colored basics and accessorized with scarves and jewelry from cool places. I am also fortunate that my son was born in July, so I didn’t have to deal with winter coats and stuff. I probably spent $350 on my maternity wardrobe. I work a professional job and the stuff I bought carried me through my pregnancy and kept me looking professional. Also, you may be able to wear some non-maternity items (maxi dresses, jackets, open sweaters).
