September 8, 2013 at 3:13 pmI made a roast chicken dinner with all of the fixings and an apple pie, and delivered it to one of my dearest friends and her husband. He was recently diagnoses with stage 4 lung cancer that has spread into his spine. The pain in his back has been unbearable, and his wife has been burning the candles at both ends, caring for him at home. I stayed and visited with them for a while, and they were both very appreciative of the chicken dinner and dessert. I am going to continue to bring a meal for them every week, as it lessens the stress on them both. They are such dear and wonderful friends of mine, and they deserve so much more than the hand that fate has dealt them.
I spent the rest of that weekend with my husband and young daughter, thankful that we are all healthy and happy living our simple life here in the north country. <3
