Hello from the big apple!
Here’s what happened this week
We MOVED IN this week!!
It looks like our move is official. We live in New York City now. Weeeeeeired. Two days in, and we are loving it!! Mind you, we don’t have our kids with us and the movers haven’t showed up with our stuff yet soooooo, that might have something to do with it. Haha!!
Earlier in the week, we saw my in-laws in Missouri, picked up my little sister in Chicago, drove past Toronto and right into Ottawa, all the while eating copious amounts of Timbits (once we crossed the border). For those of you not familiar with Timbits, they are donut holes from Tim Hortons.
My parent’s place has been and continues to be a sweet relief of a vacation. You never know how much you miss your family until you get home and you’re like “oh yeah, I really like these people!!” We had a few fun days with them before I left to come to NYC and get our apartment together. Brooke, Blake and Eddie are still at grandma and grandpa’s house loving life while Gordon and I are here in the city trying to find a couch, a table, a teeny tiny desk, a triple bunk bed and other things I’ve most likely forgotten about.
Did you catch that last sentence? I’m back together with my husband and it feels so good. Oh yeah, Gordon!! I have a husband and he is wonderful. After leaving in early March for more trainings and then finally completing them this last week, I am so relieved for him but mostly for me! The hard part is over 🙂 Now we can just get used to being in the city together.
I’ll be posting more photos of our apartment once we actually have stuff in our apartment. Hopefully those darn movers get here soon!!
We’ve also enjoyed lots of NYC pizza, pasta and sushi! (I need a gym membership STAT.) Best thing I had thus far was the Fettuccine Bolognese from Forno Rosso in Brooklyn….at 10:30pm (photo below).

For those of you asking, this baseball stretch t-shirt dress can be found here…I got it in Navy. It’s SO comfy.
Coming up this week
I have to register my kids for school! Crazy! I also need to figure out if they have to take the subway to school too. (Yes, that’s a thing here! Yikes!)
I’m going to be harassing the moving company with a million calls.
We have to finish finding our furniture we want and have it all delivered.
I’m finally going grocery shopping. I have been putting it off for a while because it’s just not the same (and I don’t want to look like the loser with the empty baby stroller filled to the brim with groceries.)
We fly back to Canada to get our kids.
We drive back to NYC together as a family to start fresh in our new home 🙂
Hope you are all enjoying following along. This is certainly a new adventure for us all and we are loving it.

June 13, 2017 at 12:26 pmI was going to comment on this post last night, but I was reading it from my phone and typing it all was too much of a pain, and I was too lazy to get up and go to my computer! Ha! So today, I saw your giveaway post and saw it as a sign to post what I was going to post last night! I so enjoy reading about your adventures, and I am amazed at your ability to downsize your life like you did for a move to NYC! I can’t even imagine! Also to do it with 3 kids at your feet, and with a husband out of town…amazing! Anytime you doubt you can do something…remember that you did this, because seriously I don’t know how you didn’t go crazy in the process! Thanks for sharing your stories, they totally make me smile, and I am excited to see what new adventures a life in NYC will bring to you and your family! Oh and never ever cut Eddie’s hair…he is the cutest!! <3

June 16, 2017 at 2:31 pmNot sure if the comment I left was just a Facebook comment or if I needed to leave it in this spot… sorry if it double-posted.
I am so happy you are back together as a family again! I was a single mom (though with only one child) for a few months when my hubby was in Vietnam and it was not fun! In addition to the worry, there was the dealing with the movers to have our furniture brought from Virginia, where they stored it, to Washington state… in the dead of winter. We ended up starting back to school (for hubby to get his teaching certificate) with a borrowed mattress on the floor, folding chairs and a card table! Fortunately we were young and flexible, physically and mentally! Enjoy NYC!

November 22, 2017 at 2:37 pmI just had to comment on this post because I think you are such a rock star, driving from Boise to NYC with 3 kids on your own. I also want to jump ahead a bit and tell you that I think you are such a wonderful roll mother for other women that may be single momming it either all the time or like you have had to while your husband is in training for his job. Love reading about your weeks, your family and your recipes. By the way your ruffle “rice krispie” treats are my favorite!
