One of the only sunny days this week.

A whole lotta nothing happened this week. Ha! Just kidding. Things happened. Just nothing super memorable.

Here’s what happened this past week:

Gordon and I got zero dates in. I was hoping to go out with him to grab a few last furniture pieces to finish our living room area (and finally unpack those last two boxes of books) but alas that did not happen. *Sigh* Life goes on. Maybe this week?

My weird pregnancy insomnia and continued round ligament pain keeps rolling on. I’ve realized that I just need to not sit down between 5 and 8 pm. If I do, then its total GAME OVER and I will fall asleep and basically be the catalyst to my own problem. The occasional diet coke helps, so that’s good. I also take a little tylenol for the round ligament pain and it seems to be making a world of difference. Hallelujah for that. I’m hoping my ligaments will all be stretched out soon so I can walk like a normal person.

These past few days (I think because of the overall lack of rest) I’ve started getting sick. Nasal drip for two days that has turned into stuffy nose, sinuses and a cough. I feel the worst between 9pm and 9am, but thankfully with a few drugs my doctor okay’d, I can function mostly normal.

Last week we had several grey and rainy days. I’m so glad we don’t live in Oregon anymore where things just are blah and gross all Springtime long, but man, when you get spoiled with the sun and then don’t see it for days on end, it makes me so depressed! Seasonal depression is real. So, I was happy to finally get some nicer weather by Saturday.

Lauren and Gordon

Sunny Saturday in the park!

On Wednesday and Thursday, I created a huge content calendar for the blog. Basically this means I came up with a huge list of recipes that I’ll be posting between now and the end of the year. Because I’m having the baby in September, I’m hoping to have this huge catalogue of recipes just ready and waiting by the end of June. My goal is to have all the recipes tested, made and shot by the end of June when my kids are done with school. I don’t plan on having the posts written by then, but the huge bulk of the recipe testing, photographing and editing will be done. With the exception of the new holiday e-magazine for 2019, I shouldn’t have to cook or bake anything for work until January 2020. Hooray for my make-shift maternity leave.

Gordon had Saturday off because his sister was in town visiting with her kids. It’s nice seeing family experience city living and wonder how we do it with kids. (Yes, it’s tricky, but I think we are mostly used to it. I can’t believe we’ve been here nearly three years. It really has flown by.) I picked up some Levain Bakery Cookies for us to eat in the park and they were blown away by them. (The chocolate peanut butter one is our very favorite.)

Brooke Blake and Eddie with wind in their faces

Using the fan from the bouncy house to blow the kids down…a new game brought to you by Dad, the fun parent.

Blake’s ACTUAL birthday was this past week, so we celebrated him with a big oreo cake and a few gifts. See this post for a basic Blake run-down. That boy is such a sweetheart. As long as he’s fed and rested, he is such a delight.

Here’s what is coming up this next week:

I will hopefully be better by this weekend because Blake has another party.

We’re had so many freaking parties for this kid, it’s a little bananas. I only slightly regret this decision. It’s a bounce house, face-painting party, so of course we have to go through with it. We already paid the face painter and sent out the invites. SO grateful we have an apartment large enough to make this happen for Blake.

Meeting a friend for dinner tonight and we’re trying a new restaurant. That is one thing I love about the city. There is always somewhere new to check out or try.

Blake with gelato and a macron

Blake and Gordon went to Amorino, a gelato shop on the UWS. My husband normally prefers ice cream to gelato, except I converted him because Amorino is the bomb. He gets chocolate, I get hazelnut (or pistachio) and Blake loves the mint chocolate chip.

    Hi Lauren,
Sorry to butt in…I hated most of the unsolicited pregnancy advice people liked to throw at me…but have you tried a chiropractor who is Webster certified? I was definitely a skeptic, but my round ligament pain (and lower back pain) was so bad at times I gave it a shot. I think it was the only way I got through the pregnancy!

“I’m so glad we don’t live in Oregon anymore….”
    There’s a sentence I never thought I’d see!
I am from Oregon, live in Southern Illinois now.
It’s been raining here and all over the Midwest a ton this year!

That’s the only thing I don’t love about Oregon. Everything else is wonderful! Haha!

I’m from Western Washington and I totally get it. I can’t do endless gray and wet ALL the time. So we live in Arizona now 🤷‍♀️👍😎

I tenement being so happy that the weather was wonderful when you came except for the drizzle that kept the kids and Dad from sleeping in the trampoline. This is the best spring I can remember ever having!. But maybe when you were farther west you got more cloudy days. And yes Pregnancy definitely has its downs. I’m so proud of you going through it again

When you have 4 children, “date nights” are a thing of the past. I don’t understand you people who want all these children then want “date nights”. Sorry

It’s because they care about their marriage.

Date nights are even more important when you have four kids! Alone time for couples is so therapeutic. Having kids should never stop people from enjoying their relationship with their spouse.
