This Week at the Brennan’s

Lauren and Brooke

This week has been an emotional roller coaster to say the least.

Here’s what’s been happening:

We started the week as normal one, taking Brooke to her volleyball practice, the boys going to the babysitters, Blake going to preschool, grocery shopping, etc. etc.

Anyways, mid-week we got an offer on our house! We signed our contract, the buyers signed the contract and we had our closing date. I was so excited I started selling extra furniture we won’t be needing in the city. I was so surprised how fast it all went!! You put mediocre pictures onto Facebook and the crowds come running.

So off the furniture went Friday night.

Saturday morning I cleaned the house completely (for the millionth time) and had the buyers do their final walk-through. Well, long story short, they terminated our contract and walked away. Our house went back on the market Saturday afternoon.

It was a huge shock to the system to feel like we’re making huge progress only to take a big step backwards again. Obviously our home WILL sell, we know it will, but it’s just a matter of when. I’m not super upset about it going back on the market, I’m more mad that I have to continue to keep it clean! (I hate cleaning and my children are tiny little monsters who destroy all.)

So that was a bummer.

Brooke had another great volleyball game this week. She always has a great attitude about her team and the games they play. I love watching her succeed and sometimes fail. It’s all good fun.

Eddie took a step on his own this week!! It doesn’t sound like much, but this boy refuses to walk for anyone. He definitely lives life on his own terms. Haha! So he took a tiny step from a walking toy to the ottoman. It’s basically a glimmer of bright hope that one day he might just walk.

Eddie also had two molars pop out of him gums this week! Actually, they probably popped out a lot sooner then that, I just didn’t notice them until a few days ago. Whoops? That may explain why he had a few rough nights last week.

Actually, I’ve started putting shoes/moccasins on him consistently and walk him into the post office/Fred Meyer/church/wherever we are going. He will walk just fine if I hold him by one hand, but won’t take any steps on his own if I try to lure him over towards me. So, I’ll keep waiting for my boy to walk. *Sigh*

Gordon is starting to get home sick and it’s the sweetest thing ever. He loves us and misses us. FaceTime isn’t cutting it anymore. 46 more days of training for him and then he’s done that phase, so hooray for that!! (And of course he’s thriving and doing well.)

Coming up this week

Maybe we’ll sell the house? Who knows.

Brooke has more volleyball!

Blake is turning 4 this week!! I’ve got to figure out some small presents he will love that I won’t have to toss before we move. If you have any tips or recommendations for what to get him or for his mini party, let me know!

Gordon was talking to Blake about what kind of cake he’s want, and he convinced him that he wanted a monster truck cake. LUCKY ME. So, I’ll be figuring out how to make that later this week. Thanks for that, Gord.

I think I’ll start vlogging again! Life in never dull ’round these parts. Plus, I want to document the move a little more than I have been. Plus life in NYC is going to be crazy!!

Have a great week, friends!!

Just wanted to comment about Eddie’s walking. He sounds so much like my son. My son took a couple tentative steps at 15 months old and started walking much more at 16 months old. But he was similar – just did NOT want to walk. He’s also pretty cautious, so I think it was just his personality.

So sorry about the fall through!????Hopefully the perfect buyer will come through soon. Your monster car cake got me thinking abut cakes I’ve made and just thought I’d suggest using real toy trucks and have the cake be the dirt! Good luck!????

Oh Lauren, it definitely sounds like you are on one big roller coaster lately. I have to tell you how much I love reading these posts though. I might suggest some of the small Monster Jam Monster trucks for Blake. Or some hot wheels. My girls believe or not loved them when they were his age. You can do it!

    So sorry about the house!

What if you bought tickets to a monster truck event in NYC for Blake? Something for him to look forward to and nothing to pack!
