Thank you Sandestin for a wonderful trip! I think I’m in love with you.
A few weeks ago, you probably saw me bombard you with
delicious food photos from Sandestin, FL! Well, here is my HUGE recap post with a chance to win a trip back to Sandestin to experience all the good food I got to try! It’s huge prize, ya’ll.
Scroll through to see all yummy food I got to experience and take notes! You might be the lucky winner headed there in a few weeks 🙂
All restaurant recommendations + details about the restaurants are listed at the end of this post, so don’t freak out that I don’t give you all the information. It’s all here!
First thing: my travel outfit. Why I thought the need to wear closed toed shoes, longer pants AND a coat to Florida is beyond me. YOU GUYS, I clearly did not think that through. #notsmart
Upon arrival to Sandestin with
Amanda, her and I were able to meet up with our girls weekend blogging crew and get the fun started! {Yes I changed first.} We first headed to Agave Azul. Naturally, we ordered just about one of everything. YOU GUYS. The nachos here are INSANE. Also: fish tacos! Dreamy.
Do you see the river of cheesy lava? OMG, these nachos are what my dreams are made of.
That evening, all us friends headed to the beach for some S’mores! Amanda makes crazy
gourmet s’mores so I was able to indulge in a ritz, peanut butter cup, salted caramel s’more! So dreamy <3
The next morning, we were able to enjoy the Spa and some Sunset Bay Cafe for breakfast! Warm cinnamon rolls with melty orange cream cheese frosting? OMG, be still my heart.
The chicken and waffles were pretty freaking epic too. OMG.
Later that morning, a few of us got a chance to go paddle boarding! It was not my forte, but I’m glad I got the chance to try.
Lunch was at the Marina Bar and Grill. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of food that came out of the kitchen. Just deeeeelicious.
I got fish tacos again, but also tried the fried pickles, the fries, a few bites of a bacon cheeseburger and
these calamari!! I will like anything if it’s fried. Pretty sure.
Even though I put on sunscreen, my day on the water paddle boarding was a little much for my fair Canadian skin. And, I was dumb enough to wear the swimsuit that leaves the funniest tan lines!
Shawn {my roommate for the weekend} was like “it just looks like you wore a necklace for a really really long time!” Yeah, thanks Shawn. Lol!!
That evening, we were lucky enough to have the executive chef of the whole resort, Javier Rosa, make us a 5 course dinner in our suite. I was full after the first course, but omg all the food was so good, I just kept eating!
This gumbo with the fried green tomato salad was so so good! I’ve never had a fried green tomato before 🙂
Crawfish ravioli. Heaven help me.
Fall apart pork with bacon, red eye gravy and jalapeno grits! Can’t get enough of this!
YOU GUYS. I went to bed so fat and happy.
The next morning, we headed over to Another Broken Egg Cafe because we were miraculously hungry again. {What?!} We had these biscuit beignets {like fried biscuit dough, tossed in powdered sugar}
And I ordered another cinnamon roll because…..why not?
After a little shopping, for lunch we headed over to The Beach House which is right on the beach, so it’s the perfect lunch spot! We all tried just about everything on the menu, but my favorites were this stoplight appetizer {above} and…
all of these cute desserts! The key lime pie and the flourless chocolate cake were my ultimate favorites. But, truthfully, I wouldn’t turn any of them away.
At some point, we went over to The Donut Hole because we just weren’t full enough. So yummy! I love a simple buttermilk glazed doughnut. Also, is it doughnut or donut?
After picking up a few souvenirs for my kiddos and husband, we headed to Marlin Grill for our last dinner. It’s a fancier restaurant with some seriously tasty fare. The wedge salad was probably my favorite, with the close second being my steak and onion rings. Seriously, it was all amazing! And these desserts didn’t disappoint. Especially the cheesecake {top left} and the key lime pie {top right}.
I cannot say enough good about how delicious all the food was, how wonderful the accommodations were and how friendly everyone we met was. Hospitality times one million. The humid weather was a bit rough on me and the sunburn made me want to die, but besides that, it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on.
A big part of this weekend was all of these wonderful ladies! Gosh I sure love ’em all! They are other food and travel bloggers that have just as much fun as I do! Just talking to all of these gorgeous women about anything and everything totally recharged my batteries. I felt as if I was in a bit of a funk before I arrived and just talking, laughing, joking, telling ghost stories and eating with them all made me appreciate how precious blogging really is and how much I truly do love it. It’s connected me to them all. I’m so grateful this is my job and that I can share the blogging title with these talented women.
What a wonderful time I had! Hope I can head back to Sandestin soon with the family or these lovely ladies again!

August 4, 2015 at 1:05 amYou girls are LUCKY! We live 3 hours away from that long bridge into Destin,
Fl. We haven’t missed a summer to the beach in over 25 years. You can’t find whiter, cleaner sand, clear water, and the best food to die for. One hint, if you do make fried green “maters,” soak in buttermilk first, then add a tsp. of baking soda to flour/cornmeal coating. Makes a huge difference!
Love your Blog!!!
