Thrilled to be sharing our photos from our trip to Paris! After spending several days at Disneyland Paris and taking a day trip to Versailles, we headed into the city for a little exploring and lots of eating!

We were staying at an AirBnB only a few blocks from the Arc du Triomphe and a 15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. Thankfully my kids are city kids and used to walking everywhere, so we were happy campers this entire trip 🙂 We just so happened to be exploring Paris on a Saturday which meant all those yellow jacket protests were going on. (Remember hearing about those?!)

When we booked this particular apartment for rent, all the protests were non existent, so we thought the location was great! Fast forward to Saturday morning when we’re walking out of our apartment around 8:30am, lots of roads were blocked off by police, smoke bombs were getting tossed and lots of protesters and yelling everywhere! The perfect environment for kids, right?! AH! Luckily, the police were able to guide us to safety and we explored a good chunk of the city the entire day, avoiding those protests.

Me and Rachael took our kids to the Eiffel Tower first in hopes we’d get there before it started pouring, stopped into a morning market (where both my kids were equally fascinated and grossed out with the chickens and ducks with their heads still attached to their bodies laid out in refrigeration cases), checked out some cute Christmas stalls with nougat and hot chocolate and tchotchkes galore, went to the Ile Saint- Louis, had some great food at my favorite Cafe St. Regis, bought a few souvenirs down the street, had my very favorite hazelnut ice cream ever in life from Berthillon, saw the amazing Notre Dame, stopped to get more macarons and then headed back to the Airbnb to rest because we had an early train ride the next morning to Amsterdam.

I have previously traveled to Paris when I was pregnant with Edward three years ago and was able to post about the trip here and here, including lots of photos and food recommendations. This post will only compliment those posts with more ideas and delicious foods you can look for if you happen to travel to Paris. All my recommendations are listed at the bottom! This is only my second time traveling to this beautiful city, but I loved our time there 🙂 Hoping to make London our next stop.

Paris Recommendations:

Romantica Caffe- We had the most amazing flaming parmesan pasta here. I don’t remember the actual name of the pasta, but it’s on their menu as a signature dish. I know it’s not everyday I’d recommend eating at an Italian restaurant in Paris of all places, but I assure you it is worth the trek. It was FABULOUS. We went to the one on Rue Lauriston.

Berthillon- this store has locations all over Paris and for good reason! This ice cream is the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. Order two scoops: one chocolate and one hazelnut. You will thank me. Some of the other flavors are just as delicious but in my opinion not as good as the chocolate or hazelnut. The nut flavors cannot be beat.

Cafe St. Regis on the Ile Saint-Louis- their hot chocolate is some of my favorite you can get in Paris, next to Angelina. Also, their croissants are killer…you just have to show up early enough before they run out.

Laduree- a really well known macaron shop. Everything here is delicious. The salted caramel, vanilla and chocolate were personal favorites.

Pierre Herme- another macaron shop worth finding. More unique flavors here that are amazing! Try the creme brûlée, mogador {passionfruit and milk chocolate} and milena {mint and red fruits} macarons.

Maison Pradier- more macarons! We found these at the train station before we headed to Amsterdam. All our favorites were the lemon and pistachio. Brooke still calls it ‘pistache’. So french!

Praluline- they are known for their sweet pink praline bread. It’s a buttery loaf speckled with sweet, colored pralines. I love this yeasty, sweet bread. It’s such a treat.

May I ask for the AirBnB link to the apt you stayed in? We are planning a return trip to Paris in April to see Versaille and hit Disneyland Paris. I’m definitely going to read up on your trip and tips as we are traveling with our 5.5yo. Thanks! and I love your blog and recipes. Your family is precious!

I would love to go back to Paris and visit with my husband, the first time I went with my beloved Grandma. Sorry you were there during the protest!
